No one had a heads up beforehand to prepare. Our collective oxygen line was disconnected. Immediately, people with stable, predictable incomes suddenly had zero coming in for the foreseeable future. We learned of the virus, called it a pandemic and someone threw the main breaker of our economy. With a bright future ahead in 2020, consumer confidence and the stock market were flying high, while unemployment was at a fifty year low. That’s when the infamous Coronavirus arrived in our world and we all lived through a poorly written Sci-Fi adventure. ‘I have money in hand and there are things to purchase, why wouldn't I buy them? Avoiding procrastination is a good thing, right?’Īs an adult who lived through the Spring of 2020, you know the answer. If you’re a ‘dyed in the wool’ spender it sounds ridiculous. Even if it is counter to your natural grain financially, it is enormously beneficial to grow into the habit of saving money. In blogs and seminars, I have encouraged everyone to become savers. We do NOT control our circumstances as much as we believe we do. I’ve never warmed up to a personality feeling the need to broadcast when they were correct, while others missed it.īut rather, this is a perfect object lesson and reality reminder to all of us.
